Father shoots 17 year old daughters BF in her bed. She told dad she didn't know him.

What else is there that hasn't already been said?

Just because it hasn't been said doesn't mean it trumps all else lol.

They both could "reasonably believe" their lethal force was justified based on the facts as presented. If the kid knocked the ole man out would you be taking up for him the same way you're taking up for the father? If not, why?

If a "kid" goes into someone else's home at 2am to have sex I'm sure he entered quietly so as not to disturb an armed sleeping father. That fact alone would indicate he was doing something for which he did not want to be caught. When caught by the father he is told at gunpoint not to move but decides to move anyway. May he was scared, maybe he intended to take the man down. The father is in his home with a right to protect his family. He has a right to make an arrest for what he believes is a crime. Only he knows whether he had to shoot or not, but the law is on his side.

The kid knew he was not supposed to be there. Let's stop pretending this was 3 in the afternoon and they were sitting on the couch. You don't have to sneak into places you are welcome.

This does not mean he deserved to die but poor decisions sometimes have dire consequences.

It sounded like he was welcomed in.

The crazy thing about this argument is that no one is willing to accept that there doesn't have to be a right or wrong. It can be ambiguous.
Someone doesn't have to be declared "right".
