Dont believe everything you see on TV, Ezekiel 25:17 doesnt actually say what was said on the movie.

So? The King James version has plenty of mistranslations and omissions too. For example, Moses did not part the Red Sea. He parted the Reed Sea..which is a lake, not an actual sea. And it parts itself when there is drought and floods back when there is rain...meaning the whole parting of the "Reed sea" could have been a natural and coincidental occurrence. Another example: In Jesus' moment of doubt while he was nailed to the cross, King James translated what he said as "Father why have you forsaken me" ...but further examination of the dead sea scrolls reveals that what was actually heard would more accurately translate to "Father have you forsaken me?" There is a huge difference in accusing and asking. And, King James omitted entire books from the bible that he felt could empower women. So basically, I don't just blindly accept that what we know as "The Holy Bible" is or contains the actual word of God. It's a book written by men from translations of other men who have a long history of fanatical religions all based on the common theme popular still today in Arabic countries. "Believe! Believe or be punished!" not near so much as how you live your life...just believe! Incidentally, the same culture that brought us Christianity also brought us Islam. And today, there aren't many Christians in the "Holy Land" are there? It's down to about 5 percent in the Middle East.

Here's what I can't understand. If Christians accept and believe that the Jews are the chosen people, then why aren't Christians Jews too? It's not a race. It's a religion that can be chosen like any other. Religion is weird. I like the Pulp Fiction version...at least it had guns blazing :)

27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,
29being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips,…

...kind of sounds like these times, doesn't it?

Understanding Jesus' Sermons

By Jeffrey Geoghegan and Michael Homan from The Bible For Dummies

Even if Jesus never performed a single miracle, his teachings would have secured his place as one of the greatest moral philosophers who ever lived. In fact, Jesus is a moral philosopher in the true sense: He intends that his teachings be not only contemplated but also acted upon. As Jesus himself says, "He who hears my words and does not do them is like a foolish man who builds his house on the sand."

So what did Jesus teach? In short, a lot. It's from Jesus that we get such famous statements as "turn the other cheek" (Matthew 5:39), "go the extra mile" (Matthew 5:41), "love your enemies" (Matthew 5:44), and the so-called Golden Rule, "Do to others what you want them to do to you" (Luke 6:31).

Yet, Jesus' teachings are not entirely new. The Golden Rule, for example, could be found in Greco-Roman and eastern philosophical traditions (though usually posed in the negative), and much of what Jesus says had already been expressed in the Hebrew Bible, as Jesus himself admits. Still, Jesus' teachings are unrivaled for their penetrating simplicity and enduring appeal.

Excellent Christmas Thread. Merry Christmas to all.

Almighty God, who gives strength to the weak and upholds those that might fall, give me courage to do what is right, for those that trust in you have no need to fear. Say it everyday and have it tatted on me too

These verses remind why we should celebrate Christmas.

Luke 2. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.[SUP][/SUP] 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God[SUP][/SUP] for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
