Ffl dealer selling used firearms without 4473

Several years ago.

"Officers using hidden cameras made tapes of some of the sellers agreeing to gun transactions even after agents claimed to be fresh out of prison or from other states."

DOH! Yeah, that was dumb!

Mostly guys in their 60s and 70s. it Is going to be tough going through the federal prison system at that age. Probably not going to get signature bonds, like a lot of career criminals.

See my post above, that's exactly what happened in Athens.

Not much entrapment when you tell the old fart straight up your buddy just got out of prison. The icing on the cake is they used real convicts so if dim bulb could figure out out to turn the computer on and do a Goggle search it would show the buyer as a bona fide convict.

No. At least not 100%. And when it is okay, it's not a good idea. If it's personally owned for more than one year? Yes. They still must keep a record of actions/dates related to the acquisition and disposal/transfer to a non licensee.
That's only if the firearm was in their bound book. Anything in the bound book signed out to the owner has to be in his/her possession for a year then can be sold or gifted. This doesn't apply to personally owned firearms. The issue is it gets to be more than a few firearms sold personally. I haven't heard of any particular number, but if the dealer is flipping guns constantly, it better be regular sales.
