The title pretty much says it all. I need to drop about 25 lbs. And giving up beer will go a long way toward that goal.I'm not into sweets or even sodas. So over eating really isn't an issue. It's more of a beer guzzling lack of activity that I have to deal with.

So have any of yall given it up? If so, what did you replace it with that isn't loaded with more calories. I can only drink so much water.:(

replaced it with sweet tea to start with but ended up with hot tea, there are hundreds of them and it is great trying a bunch of different ones, let me know if you need any recommendations for starters

I quit drinking beer a couple of years ago when my weight hit 210 lbs. I am only 5' 7" so that concerned me. 3 months later I was at 180 and had made NO other changes. I do drink more water now but I feel much better, and get more sleep since I am not getting up 3 or 4 times a night to piss. I also have much less heartburn and my blood pressure is better. Good luck, it is worth it!

The hot tea is what I have done before on nights I didn't drink. But you really gotta try a lot of them before you find a good one. But most of the ones I did like were Celestial Seasonings brand. Wild Berry Zinger, Lemon, Raspberry etc. Black tea was bitter . And I don't know who Earl Grey was. But his tea smelled better than it tasted.
I figured the MIO would make the water sweet. I don't like sweet. When I go out to eat I get unsweet tea with double lemon. I tried the PowerAde Zero during the summer. It had that awful artificial sweetener taste.
What I prefer is carbonation. I love club soda and Perrier type drinks. If I wasn't so broke I'd probably get a Soda Stream. But in the mean time I'm gonna buy club soda at Kroger. They carry it now from a company called Polar. And that's odd because when I lived down in Deerfield Beach in the 80s Polar made some good beer.
Anyway, I gotta start somewhere and it looks like today is it.

Hey man, good luck. Just be careful about the calorie content of your replacement beverage... If you replace beer with something that has just as many empty calories... You may not get your desired result.

Damn! Are we family? You sound just like me. I take generic Prilosec everyday. And I'm about the same height. But I'm probably 220 by now.
My thing is that I don't wanna drink all the time. and I need to give it up all together. But I don't wanna be one of the AA types. Not criticizing AA because I know it works for some people. But it's so damn depressing! And they make it seem like you can't continue to exist without them. There has to be a middle ground.

It sounds to me like you had a wheat allergy to go along with your beer consumption .....
