I was four years old. I didn't know anything about the Japs; and I had never heard of Pearl Harbor. I knew it was bad news, though; because my Mother and Grandmother started crying as soon as the radio made the announcement.
 
I was in elementary school and they gathered the whole grade in one room to watch the Challenger launch on a tv on a tall rolling cart. I remember seeing it, I remember knowing it had exploded, I remember them turning off the tv. I really don't remember what happened after that.
Pretty much exactly how I saw it. The next week we planted a tree. NOLA inner city school, and we planted a tree.
