I'm home with sick kids today. Nothing major just the crud. While making dinner I decided to try my hand at dying grips. I got what I think is a good deal on the Magpul AK grips but didn't like the colors. So I decided to dye the grey ones black and FDE one fakelite. I tried putting the hot dye and water mixture in a container but the grips took dye better boiling in an old pot. The last pic is a comparison to a factory black stock.

Nice work! I did a similar thing to a US Palm grip. It started as fde and I used black rit dye. Pics should show the before and after.

Thanks for that link! I'm going to order a few and try the dye out!

That’s cool man! Any worries of the die coming off while you run the gun with sweaty hands? You know my love for all things FDE, I can see me taking advantage of this trick!

Appreciate it. No first hand experience, no pun intended, with bleeding die onto sweaty hands. Haven't been able to get back to the range. My research before trying suggested that it is not an issue.
