Well this year I will be cooking my first turkey. Mom usually always cooks the turkey but with her chemo and radiation she is not up to the task this year, so I decided I would do it. Does anyone have any good recipes or suggestions for a first timer?

Just kiddin, Its actually very easy. Most of them have directions on the wrapper, and there are plenty of places on the internet that take you through it step by step.

The fryer you buy, or already own, show have instructions with it. However, if your mom has been making them all of these years, I would ask her how she use to cook them. That way, as small, or as big, as it may seem, the way you have remembered the turkey for many of years can be passed on to you and you can continue on with that same method.

You could always smoke it on a big green egg or similar. I have done this about a dozen times and it never fails.

I also heard today that covering it cheese cloth soaked in butter is a good way to get good skin and keep some oils on it.

Good luck!
