Everything is better fried!
30 year old used shoe leather, wrapped in a rusted fender from a 72 Gremlin tastes good when deep fried!
Especially if you stick with Crisco instead of vegetable oil.

ok this sounds a little weird but WORKS! rub it with canola oil salt and pepper (inside and out) then stuff 2 cut up apples and a small onion in the cavity and shove it in a brown paper bag , like from the grocery store and staple it shut. put it in a roasting pan and bake at 325 and 20 min per pound! it will be so tender!! do not open the bag or oven until the timer goes off!! Good luck!

I've got a 23 pound bird soaking in apple cider and tons of spices since noon. It will stay in the fridge like that over night. I'm waking up 5 ish to load the big green egg. I have pecan chips soaking in water also. I have a ceramic thing that you can fill with apple cider and spices then when you sit it on your plate setter it will boil the juices into the meat. Pouring melted butter on it will crisp the skin towards the end

It's ok Bio, I like ham better anyhow! Heck, if I had my way, we'd be eating pulled pork and Brunswick stew!

After you've had a fried turkey, you will not want it any other way!

As for the salt brine, it's not as salty as you'd think. The salt in the water is what makes the osmoses happen. It breaks down proteins in the meat, allowing the meat to take in more moisture, and flavors.

After re-reading my post, I realized I forgot a major step, rinse the brine of the turkey very well! If not, it will sure enough be salty!

Easiest and juiciest imo- use a baking bag after seasoning it.Have them at the grocery stores.Simple and effective.Sorry to hear about your mom. Happy Thanksgiving

Dang mtgldr! I see someone is an Alton brown/good eats fan!

I fried two this year. Tried the Cajun injector honey Bacon BBQ and of coarse I done a creole butter. The BBQ was pretty tasty.

Just got done eating. I think I may go puke and go back for round 2!
