? for all the armed forces vets .

5 years and 1 day USMC. Got injured(non-combat) and was told "get the surgery, or get out"...I got out medical honorable. Wish I'd stayed in.

Why did you get out ?
I went through some S*** in the marines at that time I was signed over at 17 so I got crap for that always muscled through it. Got screwed around a lot up at Great Lakes in IL if I could go back in time I would reenlist but I can't now the way things are going. looking back I loved my data-com career.

No pro-pay, no re-enlistment bonus, Zumwalt's changes caused it to go to Hell... Offered 5 times the pay as civilian.1968-1978 Bubblehead swabby.

Shovel my pops was one of the few officers that interviewed with Rickover after 15 years in diesels and thought he was such an asshole he declined nuclear boats and took command of one of the last diesels just before you went in-service. I will never forget the rants at the dinner table about Zumwalt as a young man. Grew up as part of the sub community, pretty neat stuff back in the day especially having had the opportunity to meet some of the legends of the WWII sub force.

Thanks for your service

I signed up for 5 years. Started out as an E-0, made E-3 less than a year, honor graduate at AIT, a few letters of recognition and a few awards. But only after one year of service I was granted a hardship discharge. I gained full custody of my two daughters ages 3 and 2.
I wished things would have been different, but everything happens for a reason.
My kids came first then and still do now.

The absolute best years of my life though, I would give anything to go back in.
