Those were like magical machines from the future. I still have some elements around here somewhere, LOL. I learned on a manual typewriter. I can type about 60 words per minute now but what I remember most about typing class is that the teacher would make the girls put their chewing gum on their noses if they 'smacked' or blew bubbles in class.
