For those in Bibb County, this would effectively shut down centerfire hunting on small properties

I don’t live in Bibb county but occasionally watch a show about game wardens in the North East. This law would restrict you from hunting behind your own house, where absolutely no one else lives and nothing mountains and woods around you. They bust people all the time on this show for it. I sit there watching and thinking how wrong this law could be in the hands of anti gunners and socialist government officials

We were discussing this yesterday and I'm convinced that we're facing a no firearms hunting ban in Henry county within the next couple of years. The Joy's of joining the ARC never end.

Wow, they are scared of the noise?? I’d think every commissioner will be kicked out if they vote this in.

Next Tuesday is the full commission hearing (public commentary) on the topic of amending the current ordinance. I plan to be there even though I'm not a hunter.

Enough folks (about a dozen according to the snooze) showed up at the committee meeting that the topic was tabled so that the public could comment at the full commission meeting this coming Tuesday. Well done hunters!

To provide a little perspective and commentary, look at the map below. District 6 is Mr. Allen's. There are a ton, and I mean a metric ton of hunters living in that district (it's mostly rural, as used to be the "county" of Bibb prior to consolidation in 2014) I think it rather foolish to propose an ordinance that would alienate such a large portion of your constituency. Something odious is afoot here. I wonder who lives out there at the lake that has the juice to spur quick action like this. Hell, we can't even get our yard waste picked up on schedule in the city.

They can't make hunting laws as that falls to the state so not sure how this proposal will jive with that fact, nor if they even care.

I got the skinny on what's going on to prompt this (I think).

There's a resident out at Lake Tobesofkee (a doctor, reportedly) that's been cited for interfering with hunters in the county nearby. They were hunting 200+ yards away from his home. He's been in their deer stands and generally been a nuisance to the lawful hunters. Commissioner Joe Allen is not running for office in the next election so he doesn't care a whit what the property owners that hunt in his district want. Just this doctor. Rumor has it he tried to have the DNR citation the doctor received dismissed unsuccessfully.

I knew there had to be more to the story here than was being reported. If ANY bullet holes were in evidence on ANY home ANYWHERE NEAR the area where the hunters are shooting had even so much as a .177 caliber pellet gun hole in the vinyl siding, it'd be included in EVERY news segment on this story.

Good info. DNR is not going to play with hunter harassment. I hope the county was able to give him a felony trespass warning as well, but I'd be surprised if so.
