I also generally prefer irons...if I wanted fancy dancy red dots I'd get an ar with the integrated soy latte attachment....
But seriously I like the AK for its simplicity

I'm guessing it's a combination of proprietary parts, less aftermarket support, and general unfamiliarity amongst gun ppl. I personally have no interest in it for the above reasons, i'm sure i'm not the only one.
