This is incorrect, you can not destroy the suppressor and reuse the serial number. The ATF sees this as making a new suppressor. Technically when you have a finished suppressor you can't even do your own repairs, only sots can repair a suppressor.

Obviously, but unless you tell on yourself who would know? I didn’t say it was advisable or that I’d do it, but I have seen it talked about. There’s no way for the ATF to know if a device was actually destroyed. Same as the “boating accident” saying. Lol

Does the serial number have to be engraved by an outside source, or can a builder stamp their own serial? I am sure my stamping would look crude, but as long as it is deep enough and permanent, it should qualify, correct?

yes you can, it just has to be legible.

So, what are the pros and cons, monocore v baffles ?

No real performance advantage I can find. It was easier to build because everything was already machined except for the very end. I just tapped that and the end cap.

It really depends on what the baffles/monocore is made of that makes a difference.

There is a minimum engraving thickness you are supposed to meet, I can’t remember what it is, but you can do it yourself
