Item Name: FS 1893 Iver Johnson, The Model Gun That Killed President McKinley
Location: Lawrenceville
Zip Code: 30043
Item is for: Sale Only
Sale Price: $135
Caliber: .32S&W
Willing to Ship: No
Bill of Sale Required?: No
Item Description: Up for sale is an Iver Johnson Model 1893 "Safety Automatic" revolver; the very same gun used to kill President McKinley in 1901. It was called the safety automatic revolver because it had IJ's patented hammer block safety, one of the first.
The gun is in great working order. Action works perfectly, and it locks up tight. Cocks and indexes perfectly. The hard rubber Owl Head grips are in perfect shape. The 2.5 inch bore is in near perfect condition. None of the usually dark bore and corrosion. This gun was hardly shot at all. It spent most of a century in a sock drawer. I've shot it about 20 times.
There is about 85% of the Nickel finish remaining. That's the good news. The remaining 15% is corrosion on the left of the frame near the hammer. Apparently, it spent some time next to something damp. A shame, but it is, what it is. Makes a great shooter with an interesting historical connection.
Price is only $145, and I'll meet you halfway, up to 10 miles or so from Lawrenceville. But, if we meet at the Bass Pro Shop parking lot, the price is only $135; making it the cheapest antique revolver on ODT! Here's the deal, when we meet, inspect it fully. If you are not happy for any reason, we "shake hands" and deal's canceled and we go our separate ways. Here's some pics:
