Yes, a real USGI Colt 1911A1
Made in 1943 according to Colt's website. High Standard barrel (a subcontractor). Wide hammer, coarse checkering on the mainspring.

The slide serial number matches the frame.

I've owned this one for about twenty years and I can't remember any cool stories about, sorry.

Yes, the prices on these guns has gotten crazy. I'm having health problems and nobody in the family wants it or any other firearms so look for more listings. I have an Ithaca and a Remington Rand coming up.

Can I trade you a correct 1911-a1 Hammer for your wide spur hammer?? I got a M1911 made in 1914 that was rebuilt in Augusta between the wars. It's wide spur hammer was ditchesd for the A1 style.... haha
