Item Description: Very nice and rare Colt Combat Commander in 9mm. Serial number dates it to 1982 according to Colt website, and only made for one year between Series 70 and Series 80 models. Has Series 70 components (No firing pin block). No box or paperwork just the Colt and 2 factory magazines. Has an ambidextrous safety, flared magwell, and the Pachmayr mainspring housing. Asking $1500. Mainly looking to sell to build an AR, but will consider any trades. Feel free to text for additional pictures. 912-596-8261. Thanks

I would say No. I was told those updates were added in 1983 and were dubbed the "Series 80" since the previous revision to the base model gun was similarly dubbed the Series 70.. This Colt was manufactured in 1982.

A pic of the inside of the slide will answer this question definitively.
 
If the slide has a plunger, like the one pointed to with the red arrow in the below left pic, then it’s a Series 80.

You’ll be able to check without removing the slide, just lock it to the rear, flip it over, and take a look.
