I think not blacking out the Serial Number would be proof enough. Since when should I have to prove that something is not stolden? You could ask that about any item on this whole site.

So I'm in Afghanistan as a contractor, and hoping to be done in June of next year. As a contractor I've purchased several of my own things, like my tac vest. These vests circulate around between security contractors like candy. When I come home next year and try and sell all this crap I hope I never need again, how am I supposed to prove it isn't stolen?

Call the manufacturer and verify. There is always the possibility that you bought it from someone who stole it.
