How many rds down the pipe ? Do you have another mag that comes with it ? Is that just normal wear from being carried or have you just not cleaned it ?

cleaning kit got lost up river. and the mag is. permanent. hammer moves and the safety moves , trigger still has a little spring to it
and as far as I can tell. never been shot, barrel looks brand new.:cool-new:

There's a reason that thing was in the river...it would be a very good idea to turn it in to LE (Sheriff Dept or GBI) to be sent to the crime lab for serial number restoration (may be stolen) or if the lands and grooves can be restored enough to get a ballistics sample to compare to unsolved homicides/firearms assaults.

to ease some minds.
1. I know who put it there.
2. I know why it was put there.
3. I know about when it was put there.

moonshiners and revenuers.
and if it belonged to my grandfather I would not be selling it. but to a still hand being chased around 1957-58

I'll put it in the giant Lyman ultrasonic cleaner gratis (that's free to my mountain cousins). I'm around Toccoa. That's between Jefferson and Tiger.
May want to try to get the grips off first, but otherwise, things usually clean up nicely.
I work with a few descendants of moon shiners.

Sure, it "could be" a crime gun, thrown in the river to dispose of it.

Or it could be just a plain old stolen handgun, that brought too much heat and attention to the thief, who ditched it so he wouldn't be caught with it.

It could be a gun that some suicidal guy tossed away to remove the temptation to use it on himself.

It could be a gun that a fisherman lost when he had it stuck in his belt while wading in the river, but he slipped and fell, and the gun came loose.

It could be a gun that an armed kayaker or person in a canoe lost when their boat flipped over.

Lots of possibilities.

I knew a friend who had one like this years ago. His dad found it at a contruction site and brought it home. He disassembled it and cleaned it, but some of the small internal parts were so badly corroded that they were destroyed in prying them out of the frame. They never fixed it; it became a paperweight.
