Location: Summerville
Zip Code: 30747
Item is for: Sale or Trade
Sale Price: $800
Trade Value or Items Looking For: $850
Caliber: .45 ACP
Willing to Ship: No
Bill of Sale Required?: No
Item Description: A. J. Ordinance Thomas 45. Compact all steel .45, made in about 1977 by Alexander James Ordinance of Covina, CA. Unique action â fixed barrel, stirrup locking system that is activated when the pistol is gripped. DAO, striker fired, magazine safety. Very accurate due to fixed barrel - if you can master the heavy trigger. I count 6 moving parts, slide, trigger, trigger bar, firing pin, stirrup lock, and stirrup lock lever.
Specs: .45 ACP, 3-1/2â bbl, 32 oz, 6-1/2â long, 4-1/2 high, 6 shot mag, fixed sights, blued steel.
High quality piece, built and finished as well as any production gun of the time, better than many. It listed for $250 in the late '70's when S&W revolvers were half that and gold was $150/oz.
I have a digital copy of the owner's manual.
Early production, later models had a trigger stop pad on the back of the trigger. I suspect this is one of the first 100 made. I bought it used in the '80's, I've probably not shot it a dozen times. Has a small crack in the left grip panel below the bottom screw, a few light scuffs and scratches, overall very good condition, no rust.
Production number estimates range from about 600 to 1500. National Firearms Museum has a page on it at: http://www.nramuseum.org/the-museum/the-galleries/the-new-prosperity/case-44-the-mother-of-invention-cartridge-technology/thomas-semi-automatic-pistol.aspx
Be the only one on your block to own one, probably the only on in your county. If all the ones that were made were evenly distributed across the U.S., there would only be 20 or 30 in each state.
Asking $800. There are a couple like it on GunBroker at about 1k each.
Open to trades, looking for S&W 386 Night Guard, or 3â 686+. quality handguns, lightweight 16â AR. Can give or take cash to even out trades
