They don't; it takes a good bit of fabrication on the hand guard to make it fit but once it's on, it's solid. If you google plr-16 mahout forearm you'll see pictures where others have done similar ones.

The nice thing is the gun itself isn't modified at all, it's all done on the Magoul side. So it can be removed and you'd never know it was on there.
