Item Description: Selling two 1898 Krags. I just bought a slightly better condition Krag at auction and have to part with my other two to pay for it.
I havent shot either since 30/40 ammo is kinda hard to come by but everything appears to function great and smooth. Both barrels are in surprisingly great condition to be over 115 years old. Both made by springfield.
The first one is in good condition but the stock has been cut down at the front otherwise the stock is in great shape with no cracks. It does have some spots where a goober tried to do some checkering but it seems to have been done a long time ago. Stock has a faint cartouche under the back of the action. SN puts DOM at 1902.
Second seems all original and untouched since 1903. It is a little more “brown” but will definitely clean up nicely. I have been meaning to disassemble it and give it a good cleaning but have never gotten around to it. It honestly doesn’t look like it’s been touched in 100 years tho. Great rifling and none of the screw heads have so much as a nick leading me to believe it has never been disassembled. Stock is in great condition and has those awesome dark, smooth hand oil stains from being handled over the years. Made in 1903 with matching stock. I really hate to part with it.
Feel free to PM for more pics. I’ll try to get back to you after work. Local meet ups please but I’m right off 75 of your passing through. Cash offers only. No trades. PM for offers.
Thanks for looking!
