No, I've not shot it without hearing protection. But, I personally wouldn't shoot a 357 without hearing protection. The recoil isn't bad though. In standard loads, its about the same recoil as a 44 mag.

Yeah, I have a TC contender in 30-30. Recoil is tamer than my 629's. And very accurate. But had to stop hunting with it after the first buck I killed . seems a toboggan and a hoodie does not provide sufficient hearing protection.
