Item Description: I have finally decided to post my 1903A4 since I currently have several other 1903's. Full disclosure up front; NO, it is not a WWII issued 1903A4, if it was it wouldn't be for trade! All of the parts are US issue except the scope. Anyway, the rifle is a Smith Corona with both SC and Remington parts. The stock is a correct pattern scant stock that probably used to have arsenal marks, but are no longer there. The barrel is a RA marked Remington with a 8-44 barrel date. The bolt is a NOS Remington. The mount is a correct Redfield with a Lyman Alaskan 2.5 scope. This scope was a substitute for the Winchester M73B1, and very few, if any saw action in WWII. They may have seen some in Korea. The Lyman has the fine crosshair and target dot reticle. The rifle also still has the front sight and band on it. It is fun and accurate with Lake City ball and seems to prefer 125 to 168 grain bullets. It also has a new military sling to go with it.

As for trades, I am really interested in large bore bolt action or single shot rifles I also need a M1917 and M1 Carbine. Other than those, just ask. My apologies for the poor photography.
PM me if you are interested or want to chat.
Thanks.

No, it was assembled on a Smith Corona WWII 03. All the original A4's were Remington. The parts are all military, but it is not a "as issued" rifle. If it was, it would run about $4-5000 and I wouldn't be in possession of it!

Beautiful rifle! Should the title maybe say "1903a3/a4"? I was a initially a little confused as I didn't think there were any SC A4's. Would be a great setup for the CMP matches, right?
Anyway,
1. What value do you place on it for trading?
2. Do you know the ME reading?
3. Did you put it together?

Thanks!

There are no A4's from Smith Corona, all the issue rifles were Remington as they had the contract. The original M73b scopes were somewhat delicate and had very poor weather proofing, that's why the Lyman Alaskan was a TDA allowance once they were available. The Lyman was very likely used in Korea, but the records are controversial and incomplete. I got the rifle from a buddy of mine that was going to shoot it in vintage sniper, but never got around to it. I would replace the trigger for sanctioned match use, but a 155gr Berger at 2600fps has produced excellent 5 rd groups for me. If you would like to discuss trades, please PM me.

No, it is military issue with a lot of over travel. A Timney or Jewell would be better for precision work if they are match legal.

Also, I don't have a TE/ME gauge for 30-06, but the rifle was rebarreled in 8-44 and was most likely never issued. It is in much better condition than my Springfield 03.
