there is no pass and permit any more. you have to create a account on i sportsman.
Also make plans to go to the base to register your firearms, including your daily carry weapon. Print paperwork off ahead of time. Background check takes 3 days.
Ft Stewart is a good place to hunt, but too much of a hassle for me. I don`t go to any military facilities any more due to the no-weapons rules.
I hunted there for years. There are some really nice deer there on there around the Echo and Foxtrot areas
i have hunted there since 1975 and had to register my guns but never had a background check.
Fort Gordon doesn't make civilians register their weapons. We just do a yearly background check on the same form with no weapons listed. I'm surprised stewart is different.
it is a real head ache. when your grandkids want to go but the rifle i got them off the trader hasnt been registered jet.
I haven’t been there in about 8-9 yrs but there was always a nice campground on base we stayed at. From reading the other post I see things must of changed. You used to go to the check in station and get a yearly pass and just call in where you was hunting every time you went out so they knew where you was at. We used to go every year between Christmas and New Years. I’ve shot some really nice deer and hogs down there.
