GA Dove Quota Hunts

By the way, at what time can we enter the fields and does it end at noon or sunset?
I cannot remember the new rules, after last year’s change.

DOVE: On managed dove fields on opening day, legal hours are 1/2
hour before sunrise to sunset unless otherwise noted in area listing.
Dove hunters may not enter the field prior to 1 hour before sunrise.

Drawn for Pine Log - I have never been!

My son turned 17 in January so this is the first time we have applied for the adult quota hunt. We have been selected for Pine Log.

My buddy and I drew Pine Log as well. Neither of us have ever been there. I’ve heard that the bird numbers on both fields were good as of a couple weeks ago.

My two sons and I have done the youth hunt at Redland for several years and we always enjoyed it. Very well organized and always plenty of birds.
We preferred the lower field. There are several big trees that provide shade on the opposite side to the entrance, just beyond the "power line". You need to drive there.
One year we hunted the upper field and there is a good spot with a big three there as well.

Blanton Creek for me but it has not been good for years, it's just close.

My family has always enjoyed Blanton, but it has definitely slacked off the last few years. There is honestly less work put into it then many non-quota hunts in the area. If it is going to be quota, then I think you should go above and beyond to make it worth while. They have fallen into the idea of planting wheat every single year. Our best shoot in the last handful of years is when they switched up to millet and had a banner crop. There are a number of crops they could plant that I think would lead to much better shoots.

Well, Pine Log WMA was better than I expected……I had my limit by 09:30, my buddy limited out shortly after that.
One of the best WMA shoots that I’ve ever been on and my fastest limit ever, private or public land.

Right on brother congrats! That was how it was last year too when I went there. I went to a pay shoot and apparently somebody forgot to call the birds to let them know they were supposed to be flying Still had a good time bsing with some friends so I can’t complain.


Weather permitting I plan to get out to pine log tomorrow or Monday to see if you left me any
