GA man arrested in NY w firearms, he's screwed

I choose not to live in a place where I have to. We should take every opportunity presented to us to fight laws like this and the people that make them and I think this case would be a good opportunity. If it gets to the point where I have to flout the law to exercise my God given (not government granted) rights than that's exactly what I will do. That's what we all should do as they cannot enforce a law that everyone ignores. They don't have the resources. The only things that continue are what we allow to continue. People buckling and accepting through fear is what puts us in the position where an American can have their freedom stolen for having 2 pistols in their car. If you are making fun of the kid instead of being outraged at the injustice just maybe it is that type of thinking that makes you part of the problem instead of the solution. Maybe it's time to reavaluate how we are thinking and reorient. I really dont mean any offense by any of this. Just believe a lot of us have fallen into a complacent acceptance of things we should never allow and this thread has done a good job of pointing that out.
I understand your point (believe me), but think we all view reality differently. Do you have a carry permit? I fought getting one forever. I finally caved, and that is exactly how I viewed it. I'm a subject, groveling for PERMISSION to exercise what is supposed to be a RIGHT, that many died for.
You live in Georgia. Don't get a permit, carry everywhere and perhaps you will get your chance to "fight the good fight".

You have a point on that. I have a permit which I shouldn't need. At least I can get it though. NY takes it to a whole another level which we shouldn't allow. Shouldn't allow infringement here either but the line just seems much clearer in places like NY with a much more restrictive environment.

Mocking him...? Please.. Know the rules of the road.. He's an idiot...

He is an American with every right to own firearms, had 2 pistols in his car and now is losing his freedom because of it. You think the fault lies with him. That is sad. It is that kind of thinking we need to change if we are going to come together and tackle some of these important issues.

Right..... But then again we have these things called laws, that I don't make... I do try to follow so I don't end up like your buddy in NY......

That's great. We have someone that has fallen on the proverbial sword for us so we dont have to. Instead of mocking him we should make the most of it. We are probably in much more agreement than our conversation so far would make it appear. We both agree the guy wasnt trying to make a political point and ignored the law of the land in NY to his own detriment. We probably both agree if he did this without clear knowledge and without being prepared to accept the consequences than that was stupid. We are probably both (I hope) incensed at the flagrant disregard for the constitution and individual liberty NY gov has forced upon the people of what was once a great state. Where we seem to differ is I see the majority of the wrong is with the law itself and not the stupidity of the individual. While you support mocking the individual I see opportunity to right a wrong with appropriate action through the courts.

And Good luck in your quest....

See, I was at Hartsfield in a Precheck line going thru security.... A gentleman was in front of me very distinguished, well dressed man, all matching Tumi Luggage.. He got pulled to random pat down.. I go thru metal detector about the time his luggage gets screened. They freeze everyone. TSA and APD come out of the woodwork. They all look at me and ask if the Tumi bag is mine...? I said Hell No!... They all glare at me accusingly, and ask then whose is it? I point to the guy being patted down... They grab him escort him to the bag 5 feet in front of me... They ask nicely if he has a pistol in his bag.. He replies" Absolutely not"... They ask him again a little more tension hits their voice...? They guy gasps "Oh my god there is a Kimber 45 in there and it's loaded... My granddaughter was coming over for the weekend and I slipped it in that bag and forgot about"... APD removed it from the bag, emptied it and about 7 people escorted him away...

They kept the freeze for about 5 minutes.. Then Lift the freeze and I can grab my bags. I walk to several officers that are still gathered and asked them for a minute of their time.. I said "Hey it's an obvious mistake that the gentleman inadvertently left his gun in a carryon".. They both said to me SO you can tell what his intentions were? I said It seemed like an honest mistake...? They said it's the judges call, and he was getting charged with a felony... The law was pretty black and white... They did share with a good lawyer it get's pleaded to a misdemeanor....

This is in ATL..... Now add NYC.... Remember where a few years ago we had that Plane thing in to a couple buildings....? They don't tolerate Jack ****
