I’d like to add some to my house. See some prefab and suppliers. They can be costly and I’m not sure I want to buy more ladders.
Am curious if anyone here builds and or installs them.

I built one for the house we recently sold. Roof pitch varies from house to house and I couldn't find a premade guaranteed to fit. It wasn't hard to do but mine wasn't far off the ground being a single story house

AKA Gable Brackets (doesn’t sound as expensive)

I hear you about the paint, but this house could use a little bling. We’re only talking about two gables painted. Not cedar. Probably 12/12 pitch 1.5 story.

Would like to go with a curved beam to compliment the brick archway over the front door. Otherwise I’d give it a shot. The vertical and diagonals would be straight.

We call them gable brackets as well. My company supplies these kind of items for a large siding company. We make them out of cedar, hardie and pvc materials. Many different sizes and styles.
