As full-fledged tinfoil hate member of the peak oil society, I don't think drilling here or there or anywhere is going to make the earth give us more oil. Then again that has nothing to do with high gas prices, does it?

A little off topic but...... It's a new engine design that makes perfect sense and gives you a duh, why didn't they think of that before. They are claiming a lot better fuel efficiency, the US Army has paid for the development. You can bolt additional units together to build Horsepower (base is 300). A few of these puppies tied together would change the world of Motorsports!

I don't know how long, but I think the ratio is like 1 50gal barrel oil gets you 6 gallons of gas or something close to that.
I actually think its closer to 15-20 gallons after all is said and done. The other 20ish gallons go to making jet fuel, diesel, lubricants, plastic, asphalt, tires, fertilizer, soap, synthetic fibers, cosmetics, sandals, etc etc etc

The amount of gasoline derived from a barrel of crude oil depends on the type of oil and how much of the less-desirable oil can be converted into gasoline through cracking of the longer hydrocarbon chains. So, any set figure is questionable. Thanks, wikipedia.
