I have a 6500 watt gas gen set I bought a few years back for emergencies. I only had to break it out one time for any length of use but boy it came in damned handy !!
You just don’t realize how much you depend on electricity until you have none and no way to get it for an extended amount of time !!
I keep my gen ready to go with fresh oil and usually have an ample supply of gas. I know what I can run and what to not run with it.
It really is a good feeling knowing you have that back up.

Woot started out as a small business in TX. They sold one item each day. If they sold out then that was it until the next day. They had kind of a cult following. I found some really good deals with them. Eventually evil Amazon shook handfuls of cash in their face and they sold to them. You can still find some deals but I don't like it as much. They offer more items but there are less really good deals. They do a good job with orders. Fairly quick shipping and good communications.

Looks like both Amazon and Walmart still sell the same unit but at about $500. I like that it is dual fuel as propane is easier to store and won't go bad in the tank. YMMV
