I love the wood fireplace inserts they take the stress off the heat pumps/furnace. Mine have been going pretty much non stop since yesterday. The fan for it doesn't take a bunch of watts so even with a power outage, a small generator can run the fan and keep the heat flowing.

My Pops has an insert and he will run you out of his log house when he stokes that damn thing up and hits the fans. They are great and will probably be looking for one next year.

I remember that. I was 7. My dad chopped firewood for two week with an ax to keep the house warm.

Yep, that's when you really need a wood burning stove. Puts out a lot more heat with a lot less wood

Wood heater puts off twice the heat and burns half the wood of a fireplace.

Got a nice, reassuring email from my power provider basically saying that they would do their best to limit the blackouts that are coming…….. of course warning folks to be prepared for it to happen.

Yeah I’ve heard of lots of those being received lately.

Zero issues with power during this cold snap. The way the TV folks play it, we are all doomed.

Bad storms are heading this way, already on the generator right now.

Its back on, just a tree fell on a power line down the road. It’s still nice to have power going within minutes of an outage.
