I agree with a lot of people's opinions on this site regarding live and let live with snakes. Two exceptions: any serpent in my home, and freaking venomous water snakes. Water snakes of any type just give me the willies, but venomous water snakes just make me all squishy inside. Those bastards don't belong in my water, man. That's where I swim or float or hang out. It's against the rules. They belong where I can see em, not lurking in the deep.

I actually "shoot until empty" then double tap him on out with the back of a shovel when it comes to cottonmouths.

As a kid we used to run into them a lot. While fishing my cousin had one strike and get the fangs tangled in his blue jeans! (It was much smaller than the one pictured here)
I was standing right next to him fishing, both of us barefoot and I was wearing shorts - we both started running in place and beat that joker to death with our cane poles.
(Ruined two good fishing poles and 1 pair of drawers.)
