Georgia exodus?

My family was a part of this state while it was still a colony and helped us become an independent nation. I'm not going anywhere (Within the state).

My plan is a house in the mountains (Clayton) and a house on the ocean with a boat in the backyard. Summer in the mountains and winter where it’s warm and the fishing is good. Just missing the house with the dock and boat at this point. I’ll get there or die trying!!!

About 2 years before I was offered the job in Lawrenceville that brought me down here, we had a really bad Nor'Easter in the winter. If I wanted to know how bad the snow was going to be in the morning, I'd look across the street at my neighbors flag. If it was blowing from the east, as in the wind was coming from Lake St. Clair, I knew I wasn't going to work in the morning.

I spent the entire morning and part of the afternoon clearing snow with my snow blower. This included some of the neighbors sidewalks too.
I walked in the house and announced to my Wife: "I shall walk the land with my snow shovel until a someone approaches me and asks 'What is that?' and there I shall make my home".
She didn't miss a beat and says: "Whatcha got?". So we ended up staying a couple more years.

As Georgia turns blue I shall relocate to one of the few remaining red states

My career choice allowed me to live on 5 continents and travel through more foreign countries than US States. Thought I'd found a spot to land and retire but think I have one more move in me. Won't be far but won't be around Atlanta.

In the area up here, AL, TN, GA. GA is by far the worst on total taxes. High property and high income. AL and TN are both lower. I"m not for sure why I"m still living here, GA is trying to force all of us over the state line. They keep raising taxes yearly. It's sad to see, and now the political tides in GA seem to be turning as well.

Coolformula is right. We have the highest prop. Taxes in the S.E. Gotta pay for all the slum living in the Blue cities. I’m a lifer though. Born here,family is here,heavily invested here. Praying we can legitimize our future voting systems & people will get enough of Socialism/Communism before it’s too far gone. These last 4 years & especially last few weeks have sickened me...not gonna lie..

Georgia was doomed when it's economy took off. The cost of living was low at the time and the locusts started moving in decimating the crops.

OK, I've seen several comments to this effect so let's see the poll results.

I was not born here. When I moved here over 30 years ago I said I'd be planted in the ground here. That is definitely no longer the plan. I love Georgia. But more and more I love what she was. Life is short (and getting shorter).

My situation exactly including the 30 years. LA is calling me strongly. (Lower Alabama)
