I have considered moving to east TN, somewhere around the Cade's cove area. I love GA. My family has been here since the 1740's. I will not be running away. I just love the Smokies and would like to live there.
Definitely "God's country".

Yes it really is. One of my lifelong neighbors moved there 5 years ago and he hasn't looked back. He said he would never come back. I told him to keep a lookout for me. It is beautiful up there.
That's the trouble with wonderful places like that. You start getting too many people moving to a nice spot, and one day you realize it's not so nice anymore. The Pacific Northwest used to be one of those spots. Same with parts of North Carolina. Thankfully, it takes the California and NYC refugees a while to figure that out, before the place starts deteriorating.

Its not just about you. What about your kids and grandkids? what are you leaving to them? Why didnt you get more involved with your community so your children can take part in your traditions?

I live just over 30 miles from Atlanta. This used to be 'country'. The point is, Georgia is becoming "Atlanta". If you think you are safe due to distance, you aren't due to politics.

Market Economics loves growth. How much has your house gained in value?

Correct. We're still good in bartow, but atl and its influences are being felt... it would be great to find a place where liberalism hasn't touched, but every state has some.

OK, I've seen several comments to this effect so let's see the poll results.

I was not born here. When I moved here over 30 years ago I said I'd be planted in the ground here. That is definitely no longer the plan. I love Georgia. But more and more I love what she was. Life is short (and getting shorter).
Born and raised here for the better of 43 yrs., In fact I'm starting to realize what my friend here has stated. I love what she was.I could see leaving for a state like Wyoming,or Idaho....hell even Alaska.(long shot) I'm not throwing the towel in just yet but if these transplants keep coming and bringing their ratty politics with them, its inevitable.
