Georgia lawmakers seek to ban guns in the World Congress Center (HB 472)

This part made me LOL.
Thanks needed a good chuckle. I know it’s meant to be a serious post and link. But..

“If someone is caught armed for their protection at the Georgia World Congress Center inside the fenced area, here's what will happen:

They will be roughly arrested and separated from their spouse and children, taken to jail, have their rectum and other orifices rudely probed, and cast into a cell with violent criminals.”

I take no offense ReelWizard. This anti-liberty push by our Republican "friends" would truly be funny if encountered in our dreams, but in reality, it is horrifying. What is going on with those people?

A big thank-you to Mrs_Esterhouse for posting the link to my article.

We've NEVER seen a Pro-Gun Rights bill fast-tracked like this in Georgia when it comes to abolishing off-limits places. Those have been like watching grass grow and coming down to the wire at 11:58pm on the last day of the session.

But HB 472, which adds an infringement is so fast-tracked it will give you whiplash.

I strongly suspect this a project of Gov. Brian Kemp. He never once stood up publicly to demand a bill to remove ANY off-limits places. He only went with the permitless carry bill when he faced a primary opponent that supported it.

I am astonished, saddened, and shocked that the torch carrier for this bill is Rep. Rick Jasperse, who before this was always on our side. Well, for the most part anyway. He hasn't pushed for any bills since 2017 to remove off-limits places that I'm aware of.

Since 2014 licensed (unlicensed since 2022) citizens have carried their firearms at outdoor events at the GWCC with no issues from any of us.

What this is about, is big money concerts they think they can't get unless they get a special carveout to ban carry at an outdoor venue.

What other venues are next?

With Republican "friends" like these, who needs enemies?

Continue to call and write them to demand they vote NO on HB 472!

If what they cared about was "their property", they just post signs. Like any other property.

It's not really "their" property, it's tax-payer funded state-owned property. The particular part referenced in the bill, an outdoor venue, they have no authority to ban guns there even with signs.

Hence, a bill pushed by Republicans (teaming with one Democrat sponsor), to make carry there illegal and punishable by arrest, prosecution, and jail.
