Basically they just cut off the gas right? Couldn't the same be done with a gas block just not as easily changed?

Yea it has 2 settings, one for suppressed and one for unsuppressed. The suppressed chokes the gas a little to prevent blowback, the unsuppressed is wide open, and when placed in between the two it is almost entirely closed which would make it a single shot,

We should put your specwar on my 4.5" 5.56 upper. Imagine how quiet it would be with no gas system at all.

It's neat and all but I have my AAC Handirifle of I really want to be quiet.

Got this back today from Oakridge, they did a nice job cutting it down. Now I have to finish the stock.
