So, I have a 13 yrs old and an 11 yrs old. I am in the process of moving them up from 22 caliber pistols to 9mm. Is there a type of competition shooting they can get into. Maybe something we can do as family. Thanks.

    Ipsc, uspsa, idpa, steel challenge.
Steel challenge would be the most fun and least intimidating as a beginner.

Steel Challenge is perfect for beginners. USPSA once they're more confident in gun handling and moving with a firearm.

Definitively steel challenge. Very little movement. Who doesn't like hearing the ping of the steel?

Another good one would be an Appleseed. They would learn history and rifle marksmanship.

Try river bends action pistol. Very new shooter friendly. The only requirement is they are trust worthy of operating a pistol is a safe manner. Everyone there enjoys getting the younger crowd hooked into it. Just be prepared to be cash broke and ammo broke.

The River Bend Action Pistol match is great for getting started. One of the matches I started with many years ago.
