Always the Pyrenees in the background, where ever you go in southern France or northern Spain/Catalonia are the mountains and especially Canigou, the highest mountain of the eastern range......

These are plane trees, everywhere you go in Europe you see these trees flanking the roads, they were planted on the orders of Napoleon so that his troops could march in the shade during summer.....

The Lion of Girona, they say if you kiss the lion’s, well the local word is ‘cul’, then you will always return to Girona, well so the story goes.......

Never seen this before, in medieval times you paid the church to be buried as close to the alter as you could afford. The very rich and noble inside, monks and not so rich merchants up against the church wall, those who could scrape a bit of money together in the churchyard and the poor got thrown in the river or on the town garbage dump. This guy obviously had a bit of money but not quite enough to get inside.....
