I would chalk that up as "behind the shoulder."
Good point. I guess that's where the preferred part comes in. Can't account for every different situation a person might deal with. I'll add a "broadside" blurb to try and clear it up.
High shoulder, always drops them where they stand. Atleast in my experience, and no tracking necessary.
I can say that I decided to use .300 black subs this year. With that caliber I decided to go for heart/lung shots, it was very effective using hand loaded 190 grain hornady sub x projectiles. Both deer I shot went down fast, within 50 yards.
