Glock AR pics

I caught the gate guard at Glock HQ carrying one a few months back.
He refused to talk to me about it at all but it looked interesting.
It begs the question: Glock is beyond late to the party when it comes to AR-15s. Sounds like there are some serious NDAs in play as well. What are they trying to keep secret before this is released?

It makes me think that Glock has cooked up something game-changing to the AR-15 market. Not a clue in the world what it could be, but it must be something incredible if all we have are pictures and speculation.

It’s no secret. They submitted the rifle, called GR-115F, to the UK weapons bid against KAC and LMT in 2022.

KAC won it with the KS1

OK I’m intrigued. I always believed it was only a matter of time before Glock came out with a carbine or sub gun. Good for them. I hope it comes to fruition.

I appreciate the fact that they have tested it for years before ever releasing it to the market. This is why I scratch my head when people complain that Glocks are too expensive for what they are….Years of thorough testing is what we pay for. At least I’m willing to pay for it, and yet Glocks are still pretty affordable. HK is the same way, though often more expensive.

Reliability is essential. Glock wants to get it right. I appreciate that.

You are in luck, they are making a rifle AND a carbine. The Carbine has a lot of neat patents you can look up for adjustable gas block, barrel things, etc.

Will be interesting to see what they come out with as a final product for consumers. It begs a few of questions to me:

1) Glock is known for polymer. AR15's are not for the most part. Similar to Magpul making polymer stuff for the AR15, and then getting into the frame game with Ruger RXM but not sure where the crossover would be for Glock with the AR15 and innovation

2) AR15 is a pretty known commodity at this point. Any deviation from the standard (DI/piston, BCG, upper/lower receiver) would have to come with something that would really make it stand out from an accuracy or durability stance to make it worth it to deviate from the norm.

I guess I had assumed at some point they might make a PCC that would be well received from the public as they could make one that was light using some polymer parts, but still function like a glock and use glock parts and accessories or something like that.

but it will be fun to have a new major player with some skin in the game.

The secret is that it doesn’t take Glock mags

So Glock has had over 40 years now to develop a rifle that might be the next big thing like the G17 was in 84/85ish and they go with an AR pattern rifle? Seems kinda like phoning it in to me.

Or, it seems like they didn't really want to do anything other then build Glock pistols but we're almost forced to do a build for government contracts.
