Or, it seems like they didn't really want to do anything other then build Glock pistols but we're almost forced to do a build for government contracts.

I think it's the Raising Cane's or In-N-Out Burger formula: don't mess with what works. No need to add things if what you're doing is working already.

However, the fact that they've spent YEARS on this makes me think there's something special that they're not telling anyone (publicly, at least).

Maybe.... but as a company, Glock has nothing to lose and everything to gain by building an AR that runs as well as other higher tier AR's

Well that's one different theory . I just always imagined Glock doing something game changing in the rifle/carbine market at some point .

There's not. A Glock AR has been available for years in other countries.

It just hasn't been in production in the USA .

Maybe.... but as a company, Glock has nothing to lose and everything to gain by building an AR that runs as well as other higher tier AR's

Except they don't build high tier pistols and investing in the manufacturer of AR can cost millions, so I'd say there is something to loose.

It would be nice to make a PCC running Glock mags but who doesn't make a decent one any more?

I didn’t say they make high tier pistols but they’re awfully reliable.
I said “make an ar that runs as well as higher tier ARs”.

Since they’ve been available for years, it would seem that the investment to make them has already been handled.
