Glock builders and experts, I need help

Just my 2 cents here.
After looking at my stock Glock. The position of the slide to frame is controlled by the
lock up between the barrel under lug and the slide lock.
It does not appear that the spring has any thing to do with this problem.
Either the frame locating the slide lock or the barrel under lug is the problem.
Or the slide is that different in the dimension where the barrel locks in to it.

Makes sense to me.

There's no denying the effectiveness of its track record as an enforcement round or self-defense gun weapon or whatever.I'm just not a big fan of its shape and I'm not a big polygon fan so I have to throw in a little crap every now and then just to keep things going. However that doesn't take away from the guns ability to do the job and do the job tremendously well.

yep, great advice here. It did not seem possible that a recoil guide rod and spring assembly could move the slide further back. I tried a new one anyway and sure enough it didn't solve my problem. Its an OEM Glock frame, so I think the frame is ok and I have tried two different oem slide locks and a lone wolf slide release so I don't think they are the problem either. I am looking for an OEM Glock Barrel to try next. I am having a hard time finding one. No stores have one in stock and none of my shooting buddies have a glock 17. I have a few ads up here and i am hoping someone lets me borrow their barrel just to see if it cures my slide alignment problem.

This gun is becoming a money pit lol. Right now, I have an overpriced glock paperweight.
