glock recoil springs - any value to upgrade?

As long as you keep your Glock close to stock & run SAAMI-Spec Ammo, there are no advantages to running a non-stock Recoil Spring Assembly...The Stock Glock seem to be the "Poster Child" for reliability, so why mess with success?

A LONG time ago (decades) I added a "recoil reducing" guide rod to my Model 22. This magic guide rod was filled with mercury and ball bearings, if I remember correctly, and came with their own recoil spring. This was a pistol that NEVER jammed. With 5,000+ through it, I can only recall five failures of any kind, two of which were ammo related (not hot enough to cycle the action).

After the magic guide rod installation it had three jams in one 15 round magazine, which completes the five failures.

I took the magic guide rod out and got my money back. Standard recoil springs and guide rods since.

Competitors may see some benefit to playing around with recoil springs, but for a carry gun I'll keep mine standard.
