I have a few thickets on the lease that I’ll be hunting this year as well.
I’ll take the Savage 840, 30/30 scout rifle in there. Its topped with a Vortex 2-7 scout scope. The maple stock got a refinish with numerous coats of hand rubbed oil.

Damn it, man! Now you have me thinking about a new rifle.

I got the rifle from my friend. I liked the rifle, but the scope mount it came with was a side saddle. I’m not a big fan of those, so first on the list was to ditch the side saddle. The only alternatives were to use irons or install a scout rail, which I am a big fan of.
It will be my go-to for the thick stuff. The Vortex Scout is a decent little scope and it is a good fit for that cartridge. I can turn it all the way down to 2X for up close shots and shoot it with both eyes open like my red dots.

Ruger M77 MKII 22-250 topped with a Zeiss Conquest. Only thing I take to the woods. Wouldn't trade it for anything else.

I have a B square mount for my 340 but the scope is not perpendicular to the barrel so I took it off.

Have a few favorites, will all be in the rotation. But my game gettinest rifles are tied. Ruger Hawkeye 358 and Remington youth model 7mm-08 in full size B&C.
