I have read a lot about carrying across state lines on here and yes I have carried my pistol many times to South west PA, But never my rifles or AR Pistols. Question is,
I am wanting to take my AR 15 pistol that I just put together and my SKS with me to the in-laws in SW PA. They have about 20 acres to play on. I will be going through TENN, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. It should be ok to take these as long as I have unloaded and in the bed of the truck and the ammo in the back seat. Correct?
Thanks

Where were you last week? We just covered this last week, lol.

Bottom line, there are state laws and there are federal laws.
In this case federal law takes precedent, since you are transporting between states.
Separating the ammo from the firearms is key.
What you described is fine.
The only way you could do this better is if you have an ammo box you can lock up.

This should be fun.....

ummm....

Sorry if this was covered last week. Looked around on here today some and didn't see anything specifically about this. My search abilities could be off.... The ammo will be in boxes but couldn't find anything on traveling with especially an AR Pistol. Do you think maybe taking apart and maybe even removing the blade from it? Just wanting to follow the law.

The guns in the bed of the truck must be unloaded and in a locked case. If you transport it accordingly, Federal law preempts any state laws if you are legal in the state you start and the state you finish,

Otherwise, there is no issue about the ammunition.

I would be more concerned about high capacity magazines which some the states may regulate, and which would be illegal to possess loaded, unloaded, lock up, not locked up. I am not aware of any of those states having magazine regulations, but it's up to you to determine that for certain.

Just to follow up on this since I am sure I'm not the only one that travels to PA from time to time. gh1950 like you said people need to find these things out for themselves but here is what I have learned today about Pennsylvania. Several sites i visited said it was ok to take firearms to pa including semi-automatic firearms and another site gunlaws101 states that semi-automatic fire arms are banned. So I ended up calling the Pennsylvania State Police to get clarification on this. The lady I spoke with said It is legal to bring and shoot these types of weapons in PA as long as I am shooting on property where shooting is allowed like a range or private property. She also said something I thought was funny/strange. That right now the Gun Laws in PA have been changing almost daily and a couple weeks ago the Reciprocity law there had changed twice in one day.

If I may grab some info on top of this. I have read a good bit trying to figure this out. I am traveling to Boston to take daughter to college. Driving up and back over 5 days. Want to take pistol. Was planning to take g43 and lock it seperate from the ammo while in communist states. This should be legal correct? Thank odt

Don't believe I would be caught with a handgun in either Mass. NY or Conn.

When I lived in NY I had a concealed carry permit. Any gun you owned had to be listed on the back of the permit. If you got caught carrying one which was not listed, it was the same as carrying without a permit.
