Good cheap bear gun for Grizzly country

I do not understand why people keep recommending higher capacity pistols.
You will be lucky to get off 2, 3 shots at most. I would want 2 or 3 rounds of 454 Casull hit the bear than 2 or 3 rounds of 10mm. What are you going to do with the other 12 rounds of 10mm while your arms are being chewed off?

"That’s when Rob yelled, “Grizzly!” The bear charged straight at him, and with no time to lift my gun, I fired from the hip and hit the bear’s shoulder.
As soon as I shot, the grizzly turned and charged at me. I shot again—from maybe 8 yards—but it just kept coming. It swiped at me, spraying its own blood everywhere, but I ducked out of the way. When I shot the third time, the bear was no more than 2 feet away."

I think there is a bit of misconception of the dynamics of a bear attack and confusion on the difference between killing a bear and stopping a charging bear.

Combine that with the degradation of skills or knowledge to effectively use a revolver, and fear of large caliber revolvers.
Revolver use and/or learning to shoot a revolver has dwindled over the years and a lot of shooters have never fired one or are not comfortable with them, its not the shooters fault, it just is what it is...

Sometimes you need to use a sniper rifle...sometimes you need to use a machine gun....It's good to know when to use the right tool for the job.

There is nothing wrong with semi auto (high capacity) pistols, and there is nothing wrong with large calibre revolvers, one gives you an advantage in some situations and one gives you an advantage in another. Its good to know which is which.

If they made a reliable semi auto (not the desert eagle) that held 13 rounds of 44 mag or 454 Casull....people would buy that ( I would buy that) They don't, so a lot (not all) of people still rely on the large caliber revolver.

Savage 110 in 300 Win Mag. Cheap, available and accurate for what it is. On my poly 22LR and 22mag I took the rear stock but plate of and I a stuffed some packing paper around a little weight and jammed it in the back of the stock. It reduced that hollow crap that comes from the factory. The weight ju a t balances it out a little bit It as well. Believe me you will not regret it. The sound deadening doesn't add weight if you don't want it but the rifle doesn't sound as cheap. Just a tip to take some of the cheapness you hear out. A little bit of weight really helped my aim and steadied it a bit.

Brand new and ready to rock and roll. All you have to do is zero the scope and go slay " Da Bears ".

While I agree a rifle would be handy to have...those 2 calibre's would not be on my list for angry bear.
I agree. To bad 45/70 lever guns are so high. I am telling you the Savage 300 Win Mag is the way to go. Maybe a 450 Bushmaster would be a contender. With like an 18-20 inch barrel for maneuverability. I think they are putting them into some bolt rifles now.
