Good Cop or Bad Cop?

In light of all the Leo threads we have had I just couldn't resist.
The wife and I were comming through Ft Oglethorpe and pulled up at a light next
to a GSP car. The officer looked over at us and gave a friendly wave and I returned one. Well I did a double take and noticed he had a passenger in the back seat. The guy was a mexican in hand cuffs talking on a cell phone. Sure enough in hand cuffs on the phone.
I have had the privelege a time or two to catch a ride in the back but was never
ever allowed to have anything in my pockets let alone a phone. I can only figgure he was a good cop allowing the man to make his bail arrangements in advance.
So what do you think good cop or bad?

Bail arrangements? hahaha. It's likely the guy was not going to see his family for a few years while he gets deported and goes to the back of the imaginary line. I'm sure the officer would not allow using a cell phone in most other cases, but this officer obviously lives in the real world and let the guy call his wife and 5 kids (on welfare, right vanguard?) to let them know he is not coming home for dinner - or at least not for a few months until he sneaks back in. The cop made a judgment call, a compassionate one at that.

again you miss a fact, ( You have Procedure to follow, when you don,t is when people can get killed.) but don,t let the facts get in the way.

Would you rather he hold the phone to his ear? If the guy was frisked, handcuffed and in the back seat, how exactly does that go wrong and someone get killed? It's called making a judgment call. Cops have the authority to do it, and they do it everyday. Some are good calls, some are bad, but one thing is for sure, the officer sure as hell knew the situation much better than YOU or anyone else, for that matter.

Wow so many folks know about policy and procedure for handcuffing....if someone is compliant and/or disabled front cuffing is suitable with palms out. A lot also done with confidential informants. Good cop in this case.

Could have left that part off, wasn't needed in my opinion.

Back to the topic, could the guy in back have been a trustee?

I was refering to the officer being a "good guy", next time I post I will be sure to get your valued opinion prior to doing so!! Darn forgot to already

Cop was the good guy!!! Hope this clarified that for everyone.

Not really.

I would say he was a good guy doing a job most others wouldn't volunteer to do!!!!

I get that you're saying he was a good guy. Are you also saying that he doesn't get paid? He does the job for free? In that case, you're right. Most others wouldn't volunteer to do that job.
