I recently read an article that the Chinese Movie Theater market is growing and that foreign films make up about 1/2 of the receipts. So this is one of their "original films". Figures.
But I can say it may be a better film without Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer and a lesbian playing the hottie.

Say what you will but the original is a classic and packed theaters for months. It was also the first VHS / Beta movie that was affordable enough to own. Before this movie a new release VHS was $75-$100. Pepsi paid that down with their advertising dollar by putting a commercial at the beginning of it.
