270s are outlawed? Wow.
People also don’t want m855 because “it will damage the backstop” yet m193 goes through armor when m855 won’t.Not many people realize that 270 is a super high energy round. For example at factory loaded 270 will out penetrate a black tip 30-06 armor piercing round. I did test personally and was amazed at what the 270 was capable of.
Just to be clear, the .270 is higher velocity, but lower energy than the 30-06. However, the differences are small. Not many people realize that 270 is a super high energy round. Uh, not really, check the charts across the same manufacturer. When you neck down, you get more velocity but less energy, same with 25-06 compared to the .270.Bullet weight to bullet weight 270 has more ftlbs of energy the 30-06 on average.

I'm talking muzzle energy only, not at any other ranges. I've looked at both Remington and Hornady, even Superformance, and there are NO loads in .270 that equal the 30-06 in muzzle energy.Don't need to check. And don't feel like going out to open up my shop to take pics of load data/ballistics to prove me right.
