No one has lived in the old place in over 30+ years. My parents used it for storage for many years but since my father passed in 2009 it has only held junk. The house was built around 1890, ten feet high ceilings, no insulation, no indoor plumbing, no foundation just rock pillars. It didn't have electricity until about 1960. I'm kinda sad to see it torn down but glad to finally have gone from my yard too.

save the chimney
Yeah we're keeping the rocks it was built with. And the hand made bricks from the fireplaces. We've already salvaged the hand built doors and porcelain door knobs as well as my dad's old pump organ and several other pieces of furniture. I have lots of good memories of spending time with my grandma in that house, but it had gotten in bad shape and was to the point of being unsafe.

The guy taking it down got started about 4:30 this afternoon and by 5:30 had it to what's left in the last pic. He's coming back in the morning to finish tearing it down and clean everything up.
