grilling idiot help?

I need to stop spending all my money on guns and ammo and start investing in my house lol I think I have a bad mind set.

living it right now. buying a house, had to sell a shotgun and a bow to help with expenses. the nice thing is the ol' ball and chain promised me i could buy a new shot gun after we're all settled in.

I have a couple of the Brinkman Smoke n Grills, I like the versatility. Couple weeks back the wife came home with a boston butt.. I put taters and onions, squash n onions in some bakin dishs just above the water pan which was filled with a combo of beer apple juice and water, put the butt on the top rack and smoked it all with hickory chunks.

I believe I will modify my charcoal chimney to accept one of those electric charcoal starters.

Hey yall just bought a house i need help with picking out a good grill
i would like to say 400 or under any suggestions. charcoal or propane ?
where to buy?
any good models?

Lots of ideas and lots of recommendations for a Big Green Egg. However, they are expensive! Unless you cook outside as much as I do, probably not worth it. But after going through 3 propane grills over the years, I'm done with them. They rust out or have other issues that eventually require more money than they're worth. Plus, you'll never get the flavor of cooking over wood, no matter how many wood chips you throw in there.

I bought a metal version of the Egg called a Bubba Keg several years back. Best money I've spent on a grill. No, it won't last as long as a BGE, but it allowed me to get my feet wet with a Kamado-style charcoal convection oven at a reasonable price ($350 scratch and dent at Home Depot). A similar grill is available at Lowes called the Chargriller Acorn for $299. If you like to cook, a Kamado style convection grill is the way to go. The versatility is amazing. I can be ready to cook in 15 min after lighting. Cook a steak at 650 deg and perfect every time. Crank the vents down for a 235 deg temp and smoke for up to 16 hours without ever having to add charcoal or adjust the vents. Got rid of my old bullet smoker because this is less trouble and cooks better.

Good info. They sound like they're worth the money if you actually put it to use.

X2 except I bought the costco version of the green egg. I cooked a pork butt this last weekend....225 at 8pm on saturday opened up at 8am (still 225) added some sauce, bumped the temp up to 275 and waited for the internal temp of the meat to hit 195 YUM. Once you get the hang of how to setup the coal, its almost put the meat on and drink bear till its done.
